Beginnings

This weeks Texture Tuesday theme is "Wise Words".

I thought about adding a quote, but decided to keep it simple.

Sometimes one word is enough.

The Swamp Bloodwood trees are flowering beautifully at the moment.

This photo was taken just before the flowers began to open.

Murraya paniculata

Sharing with Texture Tuesday

Texture:   KK Edith by Kim Klassen, Colour Burn at 65% opacity.

Murraya paniculata, also known as Orange Jessamine, is one of my favourite plants in the garden.

These fragrant, white flowers appear several times a year.

They make great hedges and seem to thrive when you give them a trim.

When I took the above photo a couple of weeks ago, there were more flowers than ever before.

I'm so glad I did because two days later, all the flowers were gone and a lovely white flower carpet lay below.

More Weeds Part 2 - Texture Tuesday

                                          Sharing with Texture Tuesday

It seems the only subjects of my photos lately are weeds.

Hopefully, after all the recent rain, some flowers will come back to my garden.

Texture: Minus 43 by Kim Klassen, Soft Light at 80% opacity.

Sharing with Texture Tuesday

Texture Tuesday is back.

This week's theme is 'Cuppa'.   This is my cup.

I'm sure that if we followed these words, life would be so much easier don't you think?

I used Kim's Return texture at soft light, 78% opacity.

Snappit

linking with Texture Tuesday

Textures used:  Image 1:  Touch by Kim Klassen -  Multiply 60%.  Image 3 (Looking Down):  Pumpkin Grunge by Kim Klassen - Lighten 50%.

My dear Mum in-Law passed away recently.  She could always be found in the kitchen baking tasty treats for the grandkids (and the big kids).  We have been trying to recreate some of her recipes at home.  One of our favourites is Snappit.

Here's the recipe:

SNAPPIT

Ingredients:

Base:

1 cup Self Raising Flour

1 cup Cornflakes

1 cup Sugar

1 cup Coconut

3/4 cup Butter

Icing:

2 cups Icing Sugar

1 tablespoon Butter

3 tablespoons Cocoa

Enough hot water to blend to a firm mixture (approx 2 - 3 tablespoons)

Method:

Preheat oven to 190 ° celsius (170 ° fan-forced).

Place dry ingredients into a bowl and mix well.

Melt butter, add to other ingredients and mix well.

Press firmly into a greased tray lined with baking paper (approx. 30cm x 20cm x 2cm in size).

Bake until golden brown (approx. 20 - 25 minutes).

Ice immediately after removing from the oven with chocolate icing.

Cut into squares when cool.

(Note:  When I made this, I had run out of Cornflakes so I used Rice Bubbles instead.)

Warmth

participating in texture tuesday

I've been watching the latest series of Masterchef Australia.

On a recent episode, the contestants were required to make a sandwich, which included making their own bread. So, I thought I'd give breadmaking a bit of a try.

Warm, freshly baked bread is perfect for those cold, Autumm days were are experiencing right now.

Texture Tuesday - Happy Heart

I couldn't resist taking a picture of this gorgeous gardenia flower in my garden today.

The image was first processed in LR3 using the Creative Split Tone 4 preset.

Then, in CS5, I added Kim Klassen's Happy Heart texture, using the blend mode Pin Light at 21% opacity.

Texture Tuesday - the Phoebe eDition

I'm running a bit late this week, which is why I'm joining Texture Tuesday on Thursday.

Meet Jen.

Jen has been part of our family for 15 years. You can read a bit more about her here.

Jen is very camera shy, so I couldn't resist the opportunity to capture this shot during the week.

I used Kim's Phoebe texture above the background - Hard Light (23%).
